The Independents – Festival of New Works
Step into a new era of live performance with the inaugural Independents: Festival of New Works — a two-week celebration of cutting-edge theatre, dance and storytelling from some of Australia’s most exciting independent artists.
Presented in the intimate Courtyard Studio, this curated festival features four powerful new works — two from acclaimed Sydney-based artists, and two homegrown from Canberra’s own creative scene. The festival offers audiences a choose-your-own-adventure format: see one show, a dynamic double bill, or experience all four as part of a full-access pass.
All four works are also heading to Sydney Fringe Festival 2025, with Canberra Theatre Centre supporting the Canberra artists through its New Works Program.
Whether you’re after provocative ideas, boundary-pushing performance, or a night of independent brilliance — The Independents offers something unforgettable.
Fresh voices. Fierce ideas. The new wave is here.
