ACT UP! 2025 Teachers Handbook

WHAT IS ACT UP! 2025?

Back for its 11th year, ACT UP! 2025 is an interstate performing arts event showcasing secondary schools from ACT and regional NSW. This year Canberra Theatre Centre has teamed up with industry partners including Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG), and The Last Great Hunt to deepen each participant’s experience and connection with the Australian arts industry. More announcements to come soon around participating artists and companies.

HOW DOES ACT UP WORK?

  • ACT UP! 2025 is open to students of all abilities in Years 7 – 12
  • In Term 1, students are provided with a stimulus to explore with their teacher
  • This inspires a 5–10 minute original performance created in class with the support of CTC industry teaching artists
  • Each school may also choose to have a student stage manager for their performance. They will attend a one-day workshop at CTC with a professional stage manager
  • On the performance day, each participating school will get to perform their work on the prestigious Playhouse Theatre stage to their friends and families. Their students Stage Manager will help call their school’s performance, supported by professional technical staff from CTC.
