Canberra Theatre Centre Work Experience Program:
THE ONE WEEK PROJECT

Do you have a passion for theatre?
Are you an imaginative and original thinker?
Do you find inspiration in collaborating creatively with others?

THE ONE WEEK PROJECT at the Canberra Theatre Centre was established in 2020 to give Year 10 & Senior School Students, from across Australia, the chance to spend a week developing and performing a NEW WORK, from page to stage, in only 5 days!

Successful applicants will spend time working out of our Courtyard Studio, with a small group of like-minded creatives, while working with industry professionals who will help guide the crew in scripting, connecting to space, performance, technical design and tech work in lighting, sound & audio-visual work, and the implementation of your vision all in readiness for a FINAL PERFORMANCE to a live audience!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR STUDENTS PASSIONATE IN EITHER PERFORMANCE, DESIGN, OR TECH, & INCLUDING:

  • Directing
  • Writing
  • Stage Management
  • Performance
  • Set & Props Design
  • Costume & Make Up
  • Lighting Design & Tech
  • Sound Design & Tech
  • Audio-Visual Design & Tech

PROGRAM DATES
THE ONE WEEK PROJECT will run during the following weeks in 2025:

April 2025 (final dates TBC)
June 30 – July 4, 2025
November 2025 (final dates TBC)

SELECTION CRITERIA

You need to fit the following criteria:

  • Be in Year 10 or above and a current tertiary based school student.
  • Be available to attend on 1 of the weeks listed above.
  • Be available for a 15min interview prior to the weeks listed above.
